SUPERMARINE SWIFT. World speed record
Mike Lithgow in the Supermarine Swift F.4 breaks the world air speed record with a run of 735.70mph over the Libyan desert on 26 September 1953.
Painted in oils on a 22" x 18" canvas board. Exhibited in the 2015 Guild of Aviation Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. Since the exhibition the painting has been modified by introducing a looser "speed / action" style.
